Mary Lucille Alkire

Mary Lucille Alkire

She loved music; she loved to sing in the car. You just heard a medley of some of her favorite songs to sing. My grandma was many things.

She was our security, when she was around we felt like we could accomplish anything. She was our cheerleader.  She loved to laugh and we loved to get her laughing.  She trusted the Lord, she believed in him. She was our confidant, counselor and friend. She loved to make things and she always gave us homemade heartfelt gifts. They were my favorite.

She was proud of her grandkids and she loved to show us off. Anytime that Tiphanie and I would go to see her she had us scheduled to sing somewhere.

She cared about people. One of the frequent stops for us was a nursing home or a distant relative who might be lonely.

She loved to pull pranks on people, I’ve grown up listening to my mom tell stories of pranks that she has pulled on people and the pranks that people played on her. I wish I could do them Justice.

I want to close with a list of the things my grandmother was…

Steps in my Fade

Ok. Let me try and walk you through these pictures.

This is right after 'All Shook Up' at Hale Center in Orem.It was amazing!!! My friend Alan was in it.

These are a few that we took last weekend at Mom's. The 4 of us were trying to get a picture and these are a few of the many we took that didn't ever work out.

And then I couldn't pass up sharing this picture of Tia. It is amazing!

Welcome to the Caribbean Life

I just got back from a 5 day western Caribbean cruise with my family. It was... Interesting but I did get some fun pictures. Like these of Mom and Brent with matching Tee shirts... I gave her so much crap about matching. I just can't get over it and every time I look at this i just laugh.

One morning I woke up at 5am for no apparent reason so I got a few pictures of the sunrise. It was amazing!

This was some cool art in the New Orleans airport. I think the singer in the middle looks a little bit like Queen Latifa.

This was a lighthouse in Progresso.
And the Coast on our way back to the boat.

Then in Cozumel we found this beautiful little garden in the middle of the pier. It was so fun.

Snowed In...

I love the snow... I love it! I think it is so beautiful and this weekend we got plenty! I made the journey to Idaho to spend Christmas with my family this year and on my way I drove through snow like I've never seen before. It was up to my car windows... and the little town of Burley Idaho has never heard of sand or salt... my mom swears that they plow several times a day but I just don't believe it... I was going no more than 15mph and I would slide sideways... Then on Christmas day we got even more snow and HWY 27 (the only road leading to or from the house) had 8' snow drifts... It was insane... We couldn't go anywhere, the snow plow slid off the road. They had to bring in tractors to dig it out. The wind had blown snow up to our front door and there were times we couldn't get out of the house. Poor Beasty just had to wait inside til we could crawl out a window. On the up side, for Christmas mom bought a new 52" flat screen to go in the living room so we had plenty to keep us entertained. I took some pictures of the new living room.

On Christmas Day we had a family dinner and it's the one time of year mom lets me pull out the real dishes... They LOVE using paper... Less work for Tia I think... Anyway I had to take pictures of the table because I loved it so much.

Babysitting

Christmas just isn't the same without a little family time, so when Trevor and Ashlyn needed to do some shopping I jumped at the chance to watch the boys. Tanner and Trenton were sitting together on the couch watching a movie and it was the cutest thing. So, silly me I went on got my camera... they LOVE to have their pictures taken.

Tanner and Trenton on the couch.

Gotta represent.

Karsten wanted to be taking all the pictures.

and my favorite ones... Trenton kept throwing up his gang signs for the camera... he did it all night...

How to...

So I know that everyone wants to make Christmas cones just like mine so let me give you the run down...

What you will need.
  1. Cardboard Cones (I found mine at Zims, they have sand in them so they stay standing)
  2. Paint ( I just found cheap craft paint at wal-mart)
  3. Glitter Glue
  4. String ( I found gold string at Zims)
  5. Sequins
  6. Glitter

I painted the cones with the paint and glitter glue then I put on the sequins and string. I sprinkled with glitter and let them dry.

Super easy, I think it took me about an hour... maybe an hour and a half from start to finish including drying time.

Christmas Time

So I have decorated my house and my tree for this holiday season and I'm so excited! I went to Modern Display (my favorite store) and looked around wishing that someday I will be able to afford buying even one thing for my house, they have the most wonderful decorations and themes... They even have a whole room decorated to the tiny snow and Christmas villages (my favorite thing). I always get so excited! As my friend and I were walking out we happened to see these cute little red cones all covered in sequins and glitter, and she said... " I bet we could make these"... so we set off on an adventure to find the supplies we needed to make our perfect Christmas crafts. We succeeded and these now grace the entry way of my house.
This is my tree topper... She sits crooked because her wings are a little too heavy... wood wings + plastic cone = poor planning and crooked angels.
And this is my tree... I know that you can't see the details very well but I thought it was a pretty good picture anyway.

Merry Christmas!!
